Topic Title: Deferral, Scam, or Run-around at Beneficial HFC

Please help.... I deferred a house payment in January, in order to do vital house repairs. After speaking with Jenny at the Rockford, Illinois office, I emailed the signed request...and I received a phone call that afternoon saying the deferral had been approved. I have never been late on any payments. January 9th they called me and said the deferral had been approved and I can make that payment whenever I want.
Collections began calling me saying all I did was a skip debit. Not true. My email clearly states that we need to either change the debit date to the 13th, but if approved, would prefer to defer the payment. I was called that afternoon and told the deferment was approved. The ACH debit for the regular payment was processed by my bank the next day. I called and was told to "do a stop payment". I did the stop payment as instructed. Now they say I never had the deferment and I am 30 days behind.
The Rockford office was able to straighten it out the first time collections began calling in January, but now they (collections) are calling again. They said they applied February's payment to January.
I called Rockford yesterday and today, they tell me the manager is out sick. Please help.
