Brian asks "I was just looking at my credit report for the first time ever and I noticed HSBC NV has requested my credit report. I don't know who these people are or why they need my information. Any light you can shed on this?"

Another reader reported: "I recently applied for a home improvement loan and was told I have an active HSBC NV account with a balance of $3300!!! The problem is I never had an account with HSBC NV. The kick in the head is that it shows an active payment history of $175 a month for the past 22 months! Its not delinquent! Whos paying this account? This account was not on my credit report 4 months ago!"
